Monday's Pick

Every Monday I'm going to post a youtube video or link to a song I'm really digging so you can listen to it. So for the first installment of Monday's Pick, I bring you She Said by Stephen Jerzak featuring the lovely Leighton Meester.

Black & White- The Maine's New Album

I've been a fan of The Maine since pretty much the beginning. I discovered them on one of my searches for new music and listened to The Way We Talk, thus beginning my appreciation of this band's musical abilities. I remember only listening to CSWS on my ipod when it came out for three straight days. I also remember going to The Soundtrack of Your Summer Tour and catching the last 30 seconds of their set because my friend showed up late... so technically I haven't seen them play live and I still hold that against her (shes lucky I like her). But I will see them one way or another.

Enough complaining, now on to talking about their new album called Black & White that just came out. It is GOOD. I'm obviously biased, but it's an impressive sophomore effort with a more mature sound and equally mature vocals. John O'Callaghan, more commonly known as John Ohh, has a rougher, more gravelly rocker sounding voice in many of the songs and I really like it. You can really hear it in Right Girl (acoustic) where he says "oh god", to which many of the fan girls probably scream at that part, which is understandable in this case.

In conclusion,  Black & White is a great example of a Pop Rock act that can produce songs that not only sound good but on paper display artistic ability and lyrical talent.

With that I leave a pictorial treat...

Fourth time's the charm?

Okay, so I've tried doing a blog three other times before this and obviously failed, BUT now I'm going to take this seriously since I will be going to college (beginning in August) for journalism. Hopefully four more years of schooling will help me become a music journalist or do PR for musical acts and this blog should help me improve my journalistic skills. If you didn't read the banner, this blog will be dedicated to everything music including me reviewing new music, ranting about crappy music -cough- Millionaires (if they're even still around) -cough- or talk about a concert I just went to and the band members I love haha. Hopefully there will be a lot but I don't know the music scene up in Albany. I am going to see Paramore in August so I'll be sure to talk about that and hopefully get some decent pictures with my shitty camera. That reminds me I need to warn you that I am a potty mouth and although I will do my best to censor myself, sometimes there might be 50 variations of the f-word in the post. I look forward to doing this (posting as much as possible) and getting more than one follower haha.. seriously I need some love every once in a while.
